Bongosathi – The Bengali Cultural Association Inc. is a Melbourne-based not-for-profit cultural and community organisation dedicated to celebrating Bengali heritage, multicultural harmony, community engagement, arts, culture, and social responsibility across Australia.

Founded with a vision to unite communities through culture and compassion, Bongosathi has rapidly emerged as one of Melbourne’s active multicultural cultural organisations. Through festivals, concerts, drama, dance, literature, community service, and social initiatives, Bongosathi creates meaningful connections between people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

About Our Founder

Dr. Rabindra Nath Shaw, Founder of Bongosathi, is a passionate community leader, cultural organiser, and engineering professional dedicated to preserving Bengali culture while building multicultural connections across Australia.

Under his leadership, Bongosathi has successfully organised major multicultural festivals, concerts, cultural programs, and social initiatives across Melbourne.

Events

1. West Melbourne Durga Utsav
One of Melbourne’s growing Durga Puja celebrations featuring traditional rituals, cultural performances, music, dance, drama, food stalls, community engagement activities, and multicultural participation.

2. Holi in the West
A vibrant multicultural Holi festival celebrating colours, friendship, music, culture, and community unity through performances, DJ music, colour play, family entertainment, and food stalls.

3. Diwali Festival
Festival of Lights celebration featuring cultural performances, music, dance, drama, festive decorations, multicultural participation, and community celebrations.

4. Moon Festival
A multicultural cultural celebration promoting diversity, cultural exchange, traditional performances, food, arts, and community harmony.

5. Christmas in the West
A multicultural Christmas festival featuring live music, dance performances, food stalls, kids entertainment, Santa corner, markets, lights, and family activities.

6. Rabindra Jayanti Celebrations
Celebrating the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore through Rabindra Sangeet, dance drama, poetry, literary programs, and performances by local and international artists.

7. Boishakhi Mela
Bengali New Year celebrations with cultural programs, food stalls, competitions, music, dance, and community entertainment.

8. Independence Day Cultural Celebrations
Special multicultural concerts and cultural evenings celebrating Indian Independence Day with renowned artists and performers.

Bongosathi Drama Institute & Drama Group

Bongosathi proudly introduces the Bongosathi Drama Institute and Drama Group to promote theatre, storytelling, acting, stagecraft, and performing arts within the community.

The institute aims to nurture young and emerging talents through acting workshops, rehearsals, stage training, theatre productions, and cultural storytelling.

The drama group welcomes children, youth, and adults interested in acting, directing, backstage production, costume design, lighting, music, and stage management.

Dance Schools & Cultural Training

Bongosathi supports dance schools and cultural training programs for children and adults.

Regular classes, rehearsals, and cultural workshops are planned at Jamieson Way Community Centre, Melbourne.
