About Bongosathi – The Bengali Cultural Association

Bongosathi is a not-for-profit community organization based in Melbourne, Australia, committed to celebrating and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Bengal while fostering unity across diverse communities.

Formed by passionate individuals from the Bengali diaspora, Bongosathi’s mission is to create inclusive, meaningful, and culturally vibrant experiences for all. While rooted in Bengali traditions, our initiatives go beyond regional identity to embrace multiculturalism, social engagement, and community service.

Our Vision

To be a cultural bridge that unites people from all backgrounds through shared celebration, heritage, and values.

Our Key Initiatives

  • West Melbourne Durga Utsav – A grand multicultural event featuring Melbourne’s tallest-ever Durga idol, recognized under UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.

  • Community Service – Organizing blood donation drives, charity campaigns, and educational outreach.

  • Cultural Collaborations – Partnering with diverse community groups for dance, music, and artistic showcases.

  • Youth & Family Engagement – Creating platforms for young talents, family events, and cultural workshops.

Bongosathi is proud to be supported by the Consulate General of India, Melbourne, and local institutions like the Asian Business Association of Wyndham (ABAWyn).

Together, we celebrate heritage, unity, and community spirit — with heart, harmony, and humility.
